Hi there,

I will be buying a new Mac Pro for a project I'm starting up in June. I work primarily in daVinci Resolve and push it pretty hard. Right now I'm torn between dual W5700x or Vega II Duo. The indecision is primarily related to the AMD cards that are likely to come out from Apple. Would it make more sense to make do with the W5700xs for the time being with the intent of upgrading to new cards later this year, or spend more on the duo and hope the card retains enough of its value to resell later in the year for minimal loss? Having the extra $4,000 in my pocket upfront would certainly have its benefits.

Thanks!

I just went through this and ended up with 2x w5700x, they perform great and I believe amd 6000 mpx should be coming soon, with much more superior performance than even the Vega ii in most use cases.

also it’s really tough reselling Mac Pro stuff, resale values can be lower than normal because it’s very niche and a small group

I use 2x w5700x and a third 6800 xt after Big Sur beta - that way you can cover your bases

^^^^I'd love an RX6800XT - If only I could find one at a reasonable (list) price?

I personally plan to keep my single 5700XT and add a 6900XT should that come out. I'm sure the Vega II will still work great in Resolve for some time to come, but the cost/age makes it a tough sell for me personally.
