I have a Bell Homehub 3000 modem (Sagemcom F@st 5566) with a 1.5 Gbps optical fibre internet link. The modem connects by ethernet to an ASUS router I use as an access point. I've realised though that the ethernet port on the modem is only 1 Gbps, so in theory I'm paying for bandwidth I can't use. I was trying to find out if I can connect a Dual WAN router to two ethernet ports on the modem and set them to load balance. Anyone know if that would work? Surprisingly I've had trouble finding this out...

You may want to check with your ISP and see if they can recommend a fiber modem with a multi-gigabit ethernet port. Some ISPs have their own modems you can lease, some ISPs can recommend 3rd party modems that you buy yourself.
