I've seen several sites about installing El Capitan beta on a separate partition from Yosemite or Mavericks. There's no mention of Mountain Lion. Is there any reason why El Capitan couldn't be installed alongside Mountain Lion? Or is it just because the OSX is do old, nobody bothered to mention it? Thanks.

Of course it can. I even have it installed along with Snow Leopard, Mavericks, Yosemite on my late 2008 MacBook Air.

What is the minimum amount of memory you recommend for a El Capitan partition? Thx.
