The full game is out in 7 days and I've got a preorder down (Steam), I've waited 13 or so years so I can wait another week :).

I'd love to see someone go to Gamestop or whatever and claim their 13+ year old deposit/hold for that game on release day XD

Gamestop has actually put out a statement that they will honor pre-orders, no matter how long ago, as long as you still have your receipt. I saw a pic on the interwebs of a receipt from 2001 the other day. crazy

I played the demo, and... I think it's impossible to summon the feeling I had when I played Duke 3D. Too much time has passed, I am almost an old man now. It remains to be seen how successful this game will be.

I also felt castrated with regards to movements. I am used to playing Unreal Tournament, and the jumping and moving speed of Duke just felt unbearable slow. It also felt very annoying that you can only carry 2 weapons at the same time. I guess people get used to it, or maybe they don't...

Having the same feeling here. I guess most people that did play Duke Nukem 3D are pretty old now. I remember i was 13 when it came and I had to hide that I played it because my dad didn't think it was suitable for a 13 year old kid.. Now I'm soon 30..

I was 25ish then, loved the game. But now, I'm 41. How sad. I couldn't care. I'm interested to try it but not willing to buy it.

I hope they didn't fade. Most receipts fade fairly quickly in my experience.

Or maybe the receipt would be worth more than the game.

It's ready to preload on Steam for Fridays release! I'm quite excited. Haven't played a ridiculous FPS since Serious Sam.

So far I'm loving it!
The texture and models aren't great, but the post processing! Boy did they go to town with that. It looks lovely and, besides GTAIV and Crysis, one of the few games that puts pressure on a 6790 iMac!

It feels more like a really advanced Doom 3 than Duke so far. I'm really liking it. It doesn't take itself too seriously, which is why I don't like the bulk of modern FPS titles.

Cool! At least they finished it this time.

Can't tell by the demo on whether I'll like it or not.

I don't know. but like or not, I won't buy this piece of **** which many people anticipated. it turned out to be the worst game ever. check out meta critic score. it got 55. junk piece of ****. plus, I have no interest about it. if you like serious destruction, you'd better buy red faction armageddon. it is 10 times better.

You mean DNF (76%) - http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/duke-nukem-forever? Against RF:A (78%) - http://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/red-faction-armageddon?
That doesn't scream 10 times better to me, I don't know about you! :D

I think I'm 5 hours in. To me it feels like a cross between Crysis 2 and Doom 3, with an abundance of Duke humour. The hive section is terrific - got this maxed out on my iMac and it looks utterly gorgeous. The constant first person cutscenes really make it immersive. And a little nauseous sometimes!

It was terrible. Sadly, it's not even worth pirating it... gearbox just put today gaming trend with duke.

I played the demo & full version, and the game is pretty horrible to say the least, I'm pretty sure they rushed with development of the game.. But thats just my opinion, I have played all the Duke Nukem games before including the popular Duke Nuke 3D, and this new game sucks in comparison..

Everyone keeps saying it's horrible but don't give a reason for it! I'm up to the dam section now, just finished the shrunk engine bit and that bit was really brilliant. The only problem IMO, is how they get these great ideas and don't expand upon them. The shrunk engine, the dream/coma, the tower climbing... they're over before they've begun.

I was feeling some bad even before I saw it firs time. there are gaming companies to be aware of. THQ. 2K especially. they have full of ideas to make games. but when it comes to final, it's not a good. maybe they lost something after bioshock games. you'd better play red faction Armageddon (well, it's THQ). but it's much better than Duke. it uses totally different kind of weapons to destruct.
