I paid off the iPhone X, sold it for $1,000 and went back to my iPhone 6+. Hopefully the battery will arrive soon.

I spend most of the time on my phone for (in order)
1. listening to books, I travel a lot
2. email (when on the road i use it a lot, at home/office very little)
3. phone
4. texting
5. camera
6. internet, siri, facebook, youtube, etc
7. demo software for company
8. personal hotspot for 2 iPads and Surface at conferences
9. monitoring security system
When I'm on the road the order is the reverse. I spend 10-12 hours using it as a hotspot, demoing software, checking email, But over the long term the order is pretty close.

6+
Bigger Screen +++ Wider
Bigger Keyboard
Headphone Jack I really like it
Touch ID always works both thumbs
I like the bigger feel of the phone even with my Otterbox Defender case

X
Screen is to skinny
Keyboard is smaller
I'll miss the camera
Screen looks good in sunlight
Don't really see speed increase I don't play games
Battery Sucks my 6+ lasts just as long even though it's 3 years old I can't wait for the new battery
Having to use Belkin headphone jack and power adapter in the car
Having to use the apple adapter for headphone
FaceID when it works is cool when it doesn't it sucks
FaceID doesn't work on desk in stand EVER
FaceID doesn't work in landscape mode
I got used to the gestures

No need to justify.

Fact is, that none of the new phones from any manufacturer represent any significant departure from what came before.

If what you already have still works and the consumables are still functioning well, there is very little reason to upgrade.

Thank you for sharing not only your reasoning for your decision but also your observations and experience with each phone.

Clearly there are a LOT of people who have bought into the upgrade each year whether they need to or not and it's always nice to see someone use an actual thought process to make a decisions than just do it because Apple does something year after year...

As others have said, great if it makes you happy. I could never do that. The screen alone would feel like a gigantic step back. TruTone is the real deal. Having to use Touch ID exclusively and not being able to tap on the screen to wake would also be huge.

Or maybe.. some of us go through an actual thought process before deciding to upgrade every year, finding that each new iPhone is improved enough to be worth it to us, and we worked hard and earned it.

I continue to not understand why people bother to post threads like this. I swear they're trying to validate their decisions.

I actually think it's because some are upset they spent that amount of money in the first place on the iPhone X that they thought they would be satisfied with, but they were not. That happens with buyers remorse situations with expensive purchases. But the majority are likely pleased with their purchase, because they know what they are purchasing, but not every purchase is appreciated.

Go with what works for you because, ultimately, happiness is the goal. Personally you'd have to pry my X from my cold, dead hands.

I went to the X from a 6+ and wouldn’t go back. If I wanted a bigger screen I’d go to a 7+ or 8+. The 6+ just didn’t have enough RAM for my needs.

But if you are happy with the cheaper 6+ then more power to you.

As someone with the 8+ -- I've held my coworker's X. I have no desire to have it at all. Face-ID just ... no. not yet. Love having one of my wife's fingers as a touch id on my iPhone for emergency purposes. X seemed heavy, screen was weird, I'll be happy with my 8+ for the next 2-3 years while OLED, Face-ID, and all that other stuff gets settled down. That and, I'm getting older so having the latest and greatest isn't such of a priority anymore.

6+ was super slow, going to the 6s+ was huge... Major difference in cpu speed and GPU. If I could go back to my 6s+ I would. Going to the 8+ wasn't necessary. Do I regret it? No.

Everyone is different. My coworker and friend love their X. Good or them. If everyone had the same preferences this life would be pretty boring.

I'd recommend a cheap 6s+ op if you have to have a headphone jack

Still quite the upgrade from 6+

6+ is old and logs in the tooth with 1gb ram

Definitely this ^^^^.

My thoughts on the post were first as a sort of review of the phone, maybe someone will read it and decide either to go with an X or not but, this shows why it's not working for me.

It might save someone 1,300 bucks, Phone, Tax, Defender case, Defender screen protector.

Also, someone may read it and say those things aren't important I'm going for the X.

Lastly the 6S + reconditioned is 500 dollars the things that are upgraded aren't worth 500 bucks

In a year maybe the iPhone X+ might fit the bill.

I couldn't go backwards from the X.
I did when I went from my Note 4 to my iPhone 6 plus and then again with my iPhone 7. I mean backwards from a note 4 to an iPhone 6 plus is purely hardware wise with OLED being a better technology in my opinion then LCD and I didn't love the bezels or the Form factor of the plus which is also why I went to the iPhone 7.

Touch ID with two thumbs? I got both thumbs in multiple positions and a couple index fingers. Touch ID FTW ;). And my face says bugger off :)

If you've got the money, then the 8+ would've given you the most refined/slick large-screen iPhone experience ever.

The 6-series is a puzzling decision, but hey, if it works stick with it.

Agreed - I had an iPhone 5 for a while a couple of years ago and that thing was slow - likely the 1GB RAM. A 6 would be the same today.

Now I have an X and an 8 - the 8 is like a compact phone and weighs nothing next to the X, I tend to use it in bed for podcasts, music or reading while the X is my daily driver.

People think I'm mad for having 2 flagship phones and both iOs but I wouldn't buy another android - the quality just isn't there in my opinion. I used the Galaxy S8 for a couple of months and wasn't impressed with it.
