Duplicate Mail Notification on 2 devices

Since upgrading to iOS 10, my emails between my iPhone and iPad don't really stay synced. If I checking email on my iPad, my iPhone doesn't update until I open the email app. Used to be that I could check it on my iPad and never even see it on my iPhone. Is this an iCloud issue, and iOS 10 issue, or something else? Or my the only one with the problem?

I'm seeing the same as well.. like at 8:00 am I'll open the email app and it'll say "Updated at 4:46 am" kinda thing, and by opening it, it checks emails and says Just Now, and along with it comes the latest emails. I have my own hosted exchange as well as various free email accounts, so not sure which one the issue sits with.

Seems like Apple is going back in time with this glitch... push email worked on my iPhone 3G lol

Mine is with iCloud mail. I never pay real close attention to see exactly what is going on. I just know that my iPhone says I have a new mail until I open the app, and the iPad does the same thing, if I've already checked the mail on the other device.

Ok, here's what's wrong with this. I check my email on one device, then later when I unlock the other device all the alerts appear. Then I have to open the mail app and they appear them disappear. It's annoying, they used to never appear on the second device at all

Anyone else seeing this? Anyone know a fix? This is driving me nuts, I hate getting notifications on one device when I've already checked those emails on my other device.

This is intentional. It's been this way since MobileMe/iCloud became a thing. You must open the app for it to sync. This works for Mac to iOS and iOS to iOS. The fact that it hasn't happened till now is very bizarre. It's been happening for years now. Definitely not an iOS 10 thing.

Thanks for that info. It must be just a notification difference. I think why it's so annoying now is each email comes through as a notification separately and must be dismissed? I have no problem with the app icon showing unread mail, it's annoying when I've checked my mail throughout the day on my iPad, then I open my iPhone and I get 18 new mail notifications on the screen. Maybe I just need to change some notification settings to be less intrusive. Thanks again

Been using Inbox by Gmail and no more annoying notifications. Thanks again for the help
