iPod Duplicate songs

So before I restored my iPod I backed up all my songs to an external drive, unfortunately I now have quite a few duplicates. Is there anyway to easily remove the duplicate tracks? Space is also limited on my MBP so I keep a several of my songs on a separate harddrive, leaving my library cluttered with the little ! all over the place. Is there anyway to remove these when I'm not connected to my external drive?
