Hi All,

With the lack of a fan in the new M1 MBA, how often do you think the bottom needs to be removed and cleaned with canned air? Would love all of your thoughts/opinions before I waste my time opening mine up to clean it. I have had mine since early November.

Am I the only one who has never removed the bottom of their MBA or MBPs to clean them with canned air? :p I may do a puff of canned air to the vents once or twice every few months but I've never removed the bottom.

A fanless MBA? - I'd never consider it, but I may be a bit biased... having never done it :p.

In a van down by the river
I would not remove the cover and clean with compressed air. That could lead to damaging the Mac. Unless you are using the Mac in the middle of a dusty construction site, I would leave the M1 alone. If there is a problem with the unit, contact Apple Support as your M1 is under warranty.

Instal a Hepa filter in the same room as the M1.

Does it even have vents?

Anyways, there is no fan forcing air through. I doubt there is any reason to dust the interior. Excepting for extremely dusty environments.

Never. How could the dust possibly enter it when there is no fan?

Also, the chassis might not even have any holes for the dust to enter.

In any case, if you don't plan to dig it into piles of sand daily, you should be fine.
