Any ideas for how to get it out? It's a little speck of dust or whatever RIGHT on the edge of the home button, but inside the glass.

I've tried depressing the home button all the way down, and sticking a piece of paper in, but it doesn't create a gap between the button and the screen like I thought it would. I'm wondering how the dust even got in there, then?

And NO I don't wanna use air or watever, cuz that would just blow the dust further away from the edge of the home button.

I just noticed 6 specks of dust under the screen of my iphone while I was cleaning the screen... Now that I know it's there, it's been bothering me like crazy. I kinda want to get it replaced but I have a feeling that the replacement will come with 3.1 or possibly 3.1.2 firmware :(

Actually now that I think about it, compared to most of you guys it's not that bad and I'm complaining about such a tiny thing... ;)

In all honesty it's not that big of a deal to clean it.

Remove the two screws by the dock connector, use a suction cup to lift the screen up, disconnect 3 connectors, remove about 6 screws attaching the LCD to the glass, clean and reassemble. It shouldn't take more than an hour even if you've never done it before. If you've done it before more like 30 minutes.

Take it to an Apple Store

They usually have screens in stock, if not they'll order you another and replace it for free under Apple Care.

Just came out of the apple store and now have a brand new screen installed. Overall I'm glad I made the trip as my peviois screen also had a dead pixel and the home button wasn't even with the glass screen.

+1 for apple customer service.
Hopefully this one works out good for you. I know that dust under the screen can get irritating, especially while watching a video or movie.
