Picked up my replacement iPad Pro 12.9 2021 and noticed a very tiny spec of dust under the glass area above the camera lens. Must have been from the factory. Yes, I can see it in a bright environment with my naked eye if I look close.

So I had 2 questions.

Would you exchange it?

Does yours have this issue?

Appreciate the help.

Personally, I think you run a higher risk of something else being wrong with the new unit that you get. If the extent of the flaw is that you have to "look close" to see it in a bright environment, then I would keep it. It's an iPad...and this won't be the only flaw that pops up over time. :)

I had the same thing with my 2020 11” iPad Pro. I thought it was a scratch at first which would have irritated me more.

Did the dust bother you? Did you return it?

I have a tiny speck of dust at the same place on my Air 4 and a slight “featured” backlight bleed. ? Since none of them are visible under normal circumstances and do not affect iPad’s actual use, I chose not to bother. If something else goes wrong with it, I will swap/repair it under my two-year warranty (EU), but as others have mentioned you might find yet another imperfection with another unit.

It doesn't look that bad to me. Keep your iPad.

Ya thanks, everyone. Might decide to keep it. Went and bought another one and it had a large piece of dust on the back camera. Horrendous QC on Apple's part.

Hi all,

Just got my M1 ipad today and it has dust in the front and rear camera lenses. Does it affect image quality?
The best way to answer that question is to take pictures with it and examine the images.

I've bought many cheap no-name tablets and a stack of Amazon Fire tablets over the years... none of them had dust in the lenses. None of my iPad have had dust either but if they did, I'd return them.

A little dust in the lens is harmless. All lenses eventually will have dust in them.

Sorry but this is not true. The lens on the iPad is sealed. If it doesn't have dust in it when it's bought then it's never going to have it.

I have a brand new iPad Pro 11 inch and have found what appears to be a very small scratch or a piece of lint underneath my glass in the same area as yours is. Fairly hard to see unless it's at the proper angle in direct light. Doesn't appear to be affecting performance (not over the sensors or camera, but just laying in the bezel), but as you have stated, EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. I have AppleCare, so probably won't do anything as I suspect at some stage I'll have another problem that requires a swap anyway. The post-Steve Jobs Apple era seems to have become quite sloppy and crappy.
