Recently opened a new iPad Air 4 and I think I see a little bit of dust under the screen in the top left corner.

It’s only visible when the screen is turned off or when dark mode is enabled. I think the rest of the screen and the tablet is perfect.

Should I try to exchange it? What is Apple’s exchange policy in this regard? Will they accept to exchange it or return it only for this?

Should I even bother? I’ve had two other iPads before that had dead pixels and a scuff that I returned.

Thanks!

Where I live Apple only accepts returns for defects.

When you return the iPad, be honest and show them the dust under the screen. You purchased it brand new, so you should expect it to be flawless out of the box. I doubt Apple would give you a hard time about it.

Ok, so I talked to Apple service, which where I live is necessary in order to ask for a refund or a replacement device. They need to verify first there is a fault.

I showed them some pics of the dust under the screen and they seemed to concur with me. Told me they could ask Apple for a replacement, probably refurbished.

So now I know I can ask for a refund in the store also or a replacement.

The thing is, the screen is otherwise perfect: no dead pixels and no light bleed whatsoever. It’s such a shame. I’ve been through three iPads counting this one trying to get a good one (first one had two dead pixels and second one three and a dent in the frame).

I will probably ask for a refund and try again, but this one could be a keeper, although it would drive me crazy sometimes knowing there’s dust under the screen, even if it is only visible in certain conditions (screen off or dark mode enabled).
