Hi guys!

Nobie here again.

Ok. I got my Pioneer DVR-112D (Beige) and is working fine on my 1GHz 640mb SDRAM and 23G memory left eMac. But I'm fresh meat on DVD Burning world.

I love movies, Animes and PS2 Games. But I don't have a clue how to start burning a DVD.

I want to place as many Anime episodes as I could on a DVD and play them as a normal origianl DVD (dividing on chapters, you know?!) on a regular DVD player.

But what programs should I use? Apple programs or Freeware (the only one I can affort)?

Do I have to set the region?

Please Help

Hello and welcome. I use MTR (Mac the Ripper) to get the video(s) ripped to my HD so I can do what I need to from there. Also try Handbrake (the new version) and read the info pages on both. Both are free and I think both are found at http://www.versiontracker.com just look for MTR 2.6.6 (the new one is donation only to get it) and do a search here for Handbrake for the new one or just find a post under my name to shorten your search (I put a post in that thread).
Using MTR you can do movie only or complete disc and read the help/info file as it will explain the region settings for you (if your in the US/Canada it's region 1). Next I use (but I paid for it) DVD2oneX which will compress the video for you. Roxio also sells "Popcorn" seperate or with Toast 7 and 8 but that you will have to pay for (try Amazon or Buy.com).
Once you get your video(s) set you could use Disc Utility to burn to your dvd but if you can afford Toast 7/8 that will take care of two things. The compressing issue and the burning of many videos on one disc.
Last try burning a few dvds using a dvd-rw so you don't make coasters out of your dvds. I think there is a help section about burning here on MR just do a search and it should come up for you ;)

Hi again. (^_^)

I live in Brazil, so... for now I can't affort anything in dollar. (v_v)l

What I could understand is... With "MTR" or "HandBreak" I can organize the video archives and set the region, right?
But to compress the video archive and burn it I must use "Popcorn" or "Toast", right?

See how noob I am. LOL (^_^)

Do you know any freeware compressor?

Do you know anyway to snap the screen from the Apple's DVD Player?

Do you know how I can make my Apple's DVD Player read any DVD region? Cause here says that I can only change 4 more times.(

I've been using VLC to open and play my videos as of late and you can do the same this way you don't need to worry about changing your region(s).
Here is a link with some awesome Stickies to read and it also has screenshots for you or others to view.

Mostly yes as I'm not totally sure about HB compressing but Popcorn will and Toast to burn the dvd. Some use Disk Utility to burn but I haven't used that method
I'm sure a few other MR members that use HB on a regular basis can answer Q's about it much better than me.
I fully understand wanting to use as much free apps. as possible but to me and some others Toast 8 would be the way to go as it also can backup your HD over several dvd's if needed.
Good luck and happy burning :D
