DVD Jon hacked phone to real activation with AT&T

I have currently been using my iPhone after hacking it with DVD Jon method. Now I need to subscribe to AT&T for real activation. Do I need to reset the iPhone or can I just get it activated? I do not want to raise any unnecessary hassles with AT&T them claiming that I have been using it prior ( I do not know how they will find out but I have to go to the store to do the activation for various other reasons ). Please help.

I'd advise to do a full restore and then try activating it the legit way
