Why the DVD player in OSX won't let me forward or rewind, instead, a "Not Permitted" message appears.

Thanks!

DVD player doesn't let you skip copyright warnings, the studio logos at the beginning or any menus. Are you trying to skip one of these? If not, what is it you're trying to skip? Is the problem the same on more than one DVD?

Hi Simon Liquid,

Yes, the same happens with any DVD. I can't skip anywhere. In case this matter at all, I have a Titanium with 10.2.8

Gee, in that case I can't think of any reason it would give you that 'Not permitted' stuff.

If no one else figures it out, you might consider using VLC to play dvds. It lets you skip between titles and chapters pretty easily and I actually prefer it to Apple's player in any case.

Thanks for the tip Simon Liquid, I'm gonna try that. I'd like to note that I do can go to a specific chapter or section from the main menu, but while playing a scene in a movie (for example) I can't skip to another point in the same scene. I know I can do this with the WinXP DVD player. Anyone else have an idea?
