I have been having a problem playing DVDs since the 10.6.4 update - quite a few will not play at all - this is both in the internal DVD drive and an external one. This is with the 27" iMac.
Although prior to this, the internal drive tended to be 'picky' and need cleaning, the external drive worked fine for playing DVDs.
I have tried repairing permissions and trashing the ~/Library/Application Support/Settings folder but to no avail.
The DVDs play fine if I use VLC, but not DVD Player - it returns an error message with the number -70001 (DVD Player encountered a system error) (for which I cannot find anything on google)
Any ideas?
