Hi Everyone,

On Black Friday I got a 37" 720p LCD TV from Microcenter. I had it hooked up to HD cable for a while and it was just gorgeous. I didn't have a DVD play on hand though, so I hooked it up via VGA (with adapter) to my new C2D MBP.

The quality on Shrek2 was not stunning. The picture was slightly fuzzy, even. Text is very sharp on the desktop, however.

I'm wondering - does the MBP DVD player actually play in 480p, which I believe is the native res of DVDs? Does it upscale to 720?

I guess I'm wondering if I will get adequate DVD performance from this, or if I need to purchase a seperate upscaling DVD player.

If so - I know nothing about the current state of DVD players. can anyone enlighten me?

thanks,

I'm sure it probably plays in 480p, and then stretches it to fit rather than upconverting. I forget if there are DVD Player options to change this.
