DvD regions???

Hey all,
Im a new switcher to Mac and Love it never going back 2 windows, i picked up new imac g5 rev b for 1100 AUD new, front row and isight dint really intrest me,

i have a few dvd that i want to watch, some music ones and movies, so 1st time its like pick ur region, so i think for my offspring dvd it was like 4, i thought nothing of it then i went to play another movie and it said diff region, and that i can only change 4 more times, All the dvds are orinal copies bought from shops in australia, nun off the net,

so i dont wanna end up ona crappy region that uses hardly any off my dvds is there away to make the mac region free or able to change region freely???

in general there should be only one region for all your DVDs.
I'm afraid there's nothing there to let you switch as many times as you want (much to the bane of my foreign-movie-loving existence in the United States), although hacked firmware for SOME dvd drives on the Mac do exist.

VLC (videolan.org) plays all region DVDs, regardless of whatever the version's at right now.

Music DVDs are typically either region-free, or compatible with regions 2 through 6. Chances are that your drive went to 2, then needed to change to 4 when you put a movie in. They should all work now.

thanks it all works on region 4 , so far only samll prob i had with my mac, thanks for quick reply

If you play a lot of DVDs from different regions, you should use VLC to play them, rather than DVD Player. To facilitate this, however, you'll need to tell DVD Player not to open when you insert a DVD. Otherwise, DVD Player boots up, says it's not the right region, and ejects the disc.
