I need to make a DVD Rip on a MacMini thats running SnowLeopard! Any ideas on what app can be used?

Back in the SnowLeopard days, I would use a combination of HDDVDdecryptor or MacTheRipper to get a VideoTS folder. Then Handbrake to convert to mp4.

Are there alternatives?
Curious as to what you find lacking in Handbrake. But in any event, a friend uses, and loves, DVDRipperPro - he considers the cost of this software to be worth it.

I dont want to just make a video file out of the dvd, i wish to keep its chapters n stuff. Can Handbrake do such a rip?

Guys, id never thought of this... why not just copy the VIDEO_TS folder? :D

If it's a commercial DVD, the copy protection will prevent that from working. The copied Video_TS folder won't play.

Best all around ripping app I've found is Mac DVDRipper Pro. I used to use MacTheRipper when I was on Snow Leopard. I think MDRP starts with Mountain Lion. You could always contact them to see. I use the paid version, but the have a 5 instance free trial.

MacTheRipper is nowhere to be found for SnowLeopard!
Where are you looking? It won't be in the Mac App Store. You got to download it off of the web.

A quick google search will give you a bunch of results. Look for version 2.6.6, which was the last free version.

Download it from Macupdate.com if you're worried about getting a bad/malicious download.

2.6.6 definitely works on Snow Leopard. Where did you download it from? Perhaps it's a bogus copy.

It's been a while since I've used it or downloaded apps, so maybe it's not available anymore.

In any case, a non commercial DVD won't need a ripping app, just copy the Video_TS folder and you're good to go.

If you don't need the original DVD structure, use Handbrake or MakeMKV.
