So, when I watch dvd's on my macbook, after a minute or so of it starting, the screen dims. Is there a way to change the setting so it won't dim the screen when I'm watching a movie, but will dim it after a minute or two of non-use otherwise?

DVD, screen dimming, my stupidity?

In Energy Saver, there is an option to disable screen dimming. It's called "Automatically reduce the brightness of the display before the display sleeps." However, it's all or nothing. It doesn't take into account whether or not a DVD is playing.
Also, there is a bug in OS X on Intel-based Macs that causes this setting to be ignored after reboot.
Does so - when I run a video full screen my screen never dims down.
It might also be the fact that the light sensors are adjusting the brightness to suit you best - you can turn this off by going to System Prefs --> Display and tick off "Automatically adjust brightness as ambient light changes"
It's a Macbook, so no adjusting for ambient brightness.
I changed the screen dimming option for when it's on power adaptor, which is usually when I'd be watching a dvd. Thanks for the info guys!
And, I use the dvd player in Front Row....whatever that app is called
not iDVD, that's the only for burning dvd's right? Maybe it's just called dvd player?
