What software do I need on my PC to rip DVDs to a format that will play on my iPad?

I'm looking for the best quality that I can play on the iPad.

Handbrake, or if you're a big torrenter, Vuze has a nice built in converter for iPad.

Just start with the Apple TV preset and expand the horizontal resolution to 1024 if working with HD media.
