Hi
i can use handbreak or dvd remaster to import a dvd into itunes . But is there a way to include the dvd menu. ?

I have a training dvd from work that i would like to import to itunes , but the start menu does not import and the chapter names are now just 1-20 .

not very informative if i want to single out a chapter . and since there is no more menu , its hard to find what i want , unless i go to each chapter and start watching it .

Anybody know how i could include the menu of the dvd in the rip?

thanks

unfortunately no. you will have to either

a) have the DVD with you and use DVD player

or

b) copy the dvd onto your computer and use DVD player or plex or VLC media player.

Unfortunately you can't do this. However, in Handbrake under Chapters, you can name the chapters before you rip the video. I think MetaX will allow you to rename chapters for an already-ripped file.

AFAIK, there is no way to replicate a DVD menu on an aTV, but possibly on one that has been patchsticked? I rip my discs for main feature only, so I haven't bothered trying to get menus on there. In either case, Handbrake isn't going to be what you use if you want to retain menus (My guess is it's probably going to be the VIDEO_TS directory played with a hacked aTV.)

Have you considered attaching more informative tags to each chapter? I believe the chapter names, when entered into the meta data of the file come out on the aTV as well as in iTunes. A good meta data tagger to do this is MetaX.

If you're looking for a specific chapter, you can give them informative chapter so you don't have to watch the first 15 seconds or whatever to know what it is.

The last option is to rip each chapter as a discrete file and group them together as a series (with MetaX). That may give you an analog of a chapter system although it will only be one level deep.

Good luck, HTH!
