Is it possible to take a DVD and compress it to a cd-r? I know the quality would go down a lot, but when you use DVD2one, you can set the size of the file folder you want. If you made it 650, could that be possible?
You would have to try to know for sure, but even if DVD2oneX would compress the movie to 650 (or 700) MB, a) it would look horrible and b) burnt on a CD-R only *very* few standalone DVD-Players are able to play these discs (they are also called mini-DVDs as I believe, meaning DVD video material burnt to a CD-R).
It would compress it down to 650 MB if you wanted it too. I'd compress it to 690 or so if I were you (most CD-R's now adays are 700 MB). The quality would bite. Dunno if any DVD player would actually play it but... you'd only be out a dollar or less probably if it didn't.
But what would you play it back on, other than a computer? I believe there's only one standalone dvd player that's certified to play divx/mpeg4 video files, at this time.

Toast 6 can make video cds from dvd .vob files. However with Toast 6 when I try to burn it says that AC3 audio requires toast with jam. Which is odd because there is no Toast 6 with jam.
Anyway if you convert the DVD video/audio to mpeg4 Toast should be able to make a video cd with it.
he doesn't imply what he wants to do with it .... I keep movies on hard drives or Cds so they take up less space and they are on my laptop for when i'm at the train station or doing laundry
