I've recorded family video on VHS to DVD and now want to copy the DVD to my Mac so that I can burn copies for the family. Can it be done? Haven't been able to figure out a way so far.

Since it is a home movie and there is no copy protection to worry about, you should be able to use a program like Toast 9 or perhaps even Disk Utility (free!) to burn a copy of your DVD. Just do a disk-to-disk copy and that should work.
