Hey Guys
I recently purchased a DVI - Component cord so I could use my TV as an external display. I am using my 15 inch MacBook Pro as the source and my Sony CRT TV as the external display. When I plug the DVI end of the cable into my MPB everything works fine, it detects that the cord is connected ect and begins turns on the mirroring feature. But when I plug the component ends into the component plugs on my TV the image that appears is jumbled and flickering and the colours seem to be inverted but I can still just make out that it is showing my desktop. Does anyone have any idea on how this can be fixed. Is there a setting on my MBP that I need to change, eg refresh rate, resolution ect. and if so what should they be changed to.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Luke

you should be able to set the display prefs to make it work. go to system prefs and click on displays. two windows should pop up -- one for color lcd and the other for the external display. select that one (whatever it may be named) and try to set it to make the tv work. try clicking the button that says 'detect displays'. it would help if knew the specs on the tv (refresh etc.) but you should be able to tinker with it until you get a picture you like. you can adjust color, refresh rate, resolution, arrangement, brightness, etc. try 640x480 for resolution and 60 Hertz refresh rate and generic RGB profile -- but i don't know your tv specs.

sorry i can't answer you question precisely. i don't have the same setup.
just remember, your picture will never look as good as it does on your computer.
