I potentially want to use my 5870's dual link DVI port to connect to my Sony HDTV. One promising cable is the following HDMI-to-DVI cable:

But that cable is described as having a DVI-D male connector. While I'm pretty sure that a DVI connector is physically compatible with the dual link DVI port on the 5870 I am not sure it is electrically compatible. In other words will that cable work with the 5870?
By the way I know that no audio is carried using this kind of connection. I am pretty certain I could use one of the 5870's mini-display ports (mDP) with a HDMI-to-HDMI cable like this,

and an HDMI-to-mDP adapter like this,

But currently both mDP's are used for my two monitors. I still may end up doing this even though it means unplugging one of the monitors. But I am asking this question as a possible alternative approach and for simply academic interest.
