I've been thinking of putting a Dell 1907, connected to a keyboard and mouse, in one room, connected to my 12' Powerbook in another. Does anybody know if one can get DVI cables long enough to do so? The rooms are close together; a 15 or 20 foot cable would suffice.

You should be able to find them on sites like Newegg.com or TigerDirect.com. If you actually want an "extension" cable, then you need it to be a M-F cable. If you just want to have one cable (not an "extension" cable), then you need to get a M-M cable.
Just so you know, your video quality will suffer slightly with such a long cable.
You can also find USB extension cables for your keyboard and mouse if you need them on these sites.
