hi all,

dunno if this is a dumb question or not but can I just use the dvi->vga adapter from my pc ati card on my pm dual 2 ati. ? i want to run dual monitors.

someone was telling me the pm passes thru electrical current or something for the usb screens so im not entirely sure. i dont want to break anything.

just using normal crt monitors here.

thx

You're getting confused. The display port which passes through power and USB is ADC, for the older Apple Cinema Displays. That's a different port than DVI. DVI is just digital video signal (and analog on half the pins, hence the simplicity of a DVI > VGA cable).

If you're already using the ADC port for an ADC-based Apple display, you can use the DVI converter cable just fine for the other DVI port. If you're not using the ADC connector for the display currently on your PowerMac, then you'll need to get an ADC to DVI converter cable of some sort. I have no experience with these, but I'd imagine they exist.
