I am fascinated by Apple TV but I'm not ready to buy as I want DVR functionality. I am hoping apple adds this in later at some point then I will buy one.

In the meantime, are there any good alternatives that I could buy? I have a series 2 tivo but it's ancient and can't do HDTV. Right now I am paying 10 bucks a month to my cable company for their crappy DVR.

Is there anything better out there???

If ATV did DVR functionality, I'd buy one today. :(:apple:

I use the Miglia TV MiniHD with a spare Mac Mini I have to act as my DVR. EyeTV exports straight to iTunes. I ended up getting the Elgato turbo.264 to speed things up. Work great although I know it gets pricey once you add it all up. With everything put together my shows are pretty much ready to be viewed on the AppleTV in about twice the time of the show (so an hour show is ready an hour after it is done recording it). The delay isn't optimal but to be honest, I rarely even watch stuff on the same day it is recorded so for me it's not a problem.
