Fingers crossed this doesnt go pear shaped but safe to assume the next release will not be free. Lots of potential for a good outcome though!

Glad to see someone taking the reins and keeping it going.

Yeah, I saw that on twitter earlier - I think that's good news.

We used to sell Nik software before Google destroyed it.

We also used to sell DXO.

I still use Silver Efex 2 occasionally but found the HDR in LR to be easier to use and better. Never really needed the others.

I think we need MacPhun, OnOne and Affinity to join the party and come up with one alternative to Adobe.

Nik's control point feature is already incorporated into DxO's PhotoLab, the successor to Optics Pro 11, and available now for demo or purchase. I think the Elite version is a $70US upgrade right now.

Affinity does not have a DAM or even one seriously planned. Photo Raw has sort of a DAM, but without import features. Macphun/Skylum will release their Luminar DAM in early 2018. I don't think Macphun/Skylum needs the other two.

Fully understood. I was turned off when Dan promised m43 lens corrections via raw file processing. But they dropped that and try to do with with tables from LensFun. LensFun still does not have the Old 300mm Pro lens that was introduced around 18 months ago.
