I set my mother's new iMac before Christmas. She states many of her e-mails are being returned in particular AOL messages. Also, many of her picture attachments can not be opened by others in particular PC others.

Am I possible mistaken yet I remember when setting my PowerMac up a year ago I read or did something that enhanced or allowed compatibility with PC's on e-mail attachments? At this point, of the switch I’m feeling very guilty, as I seem to have less patience with my mother than others. I don't think it was a bad idea to switch my mother and dad? Yes, I could refrain from intertwining family physiology and computer science.

Any ideas or input would be greatly appreciated.

Universal picture formats like jpeg, png, and gif are the most common and should be openable on any type of computer. What kind of picture files is she attaching that people can't open?

If a file on her Mac would be openable on a PC at all (no matter how it got to the PC), it should be openable when sent via e-mail.

Is she using Mail? There is the Windows-Friendly attachment checkbox at the bottom of the window when browsing for the file you wish to attach.

I send stuff to work all the time like this and there's never any probs. Or is it maybe a sinister AOL thing?

TThank you for your assistance with the question. I dropped by to see her and recognized some of it she was mistyping and e-mail address. I did check the box windows friendly box at the bottom of the page. That will assist her a great deal when sending her pic files. Thanks again for the help.
