Many people have purchased EA games, I have been a big fan of Battlefield 2142, they recently put a update out, for PC and servers, this means most of the server you play become non available. I contacted EA and they just give you a run around, it seems they don't care about MAC as a platform, most of the EA website does not even work with Safari, I am very disappointed with EA.

Umm, the patch (1.40 your referring to) is being released for Mac soon.

They DO care about the Mac users to an extent. But a little luv is better than no love. We even have our own forums now and have had them for a while on the EA support site where as before we have not. I've posted there many times and we asked about the patch and it is to be released shortly after the PC version.

I'm not defending EA by any means I've been fed up with them on many occasions but you really need to do some research before you bash someone so that it doesn't come back and make you go "ohh I didn't know that."

The patch IS coming soon.

Not working with Safari isn't a Mac support issue either no matter how you try to explain it.

Madden '08 doesn't work, and looks like it will never work for a long time on my iMac. I was thinking it had to do with the drivers on the iMac, but after the very successful graphics firmware update I'm starting to think it doesn't have as much to do with the hardware as much as the game itself. So, my experience with EA is that they don't care about the Mac platform, and Apple doesn't really care about gaming, and ATI and Apple don't mix well. The only people that care about gaming on the Mac are the gamers.:(

which is why I said to an extent. I believe it's more accurate than the "globalism" used in irrational remarks with the likes of "always, never, etc"

Yah Madden has issues, But I believe it's more a Transgaming port issue translation than EA. Obviously the game works on it's native platform. Transgaming ported it and the CIDER engine does the translation of all the aspects of the game to work on OSX.

With that in mind I like to think it's both EA and Transgaming. I mean, how can an obvious thing like the text in Madden have gone through QA testing without being noticed.

I personally quit playing EA games until they give BF2142 for mac Northern Strike. Or at least a way to integrate it. Otherwise I can't join any NS games (I need NS games to advance on my soldier) Until then I've boycoted the games. Well, sorta, been playing First Strike mod.

I don't care for EA and how they strongarm things. But putting blame where it's due is something totally different.

funny every time I try to post, I get some loop at the login screen and it fails, that is with safari and firefox

I don't really like any computer game developers. They all seem to give the shaft to Mac users with all their titles and charge us twice as much. I started just buying the PC version and installing it under XP on my Mac.

Oh they do care about the Mac (< Not an acronym) platform. They care about the Mac-market dollar, and that's a very strong motive to develop games for Mac users. Now, what they don't seem to care about is support, and reliability, and really, they are known for having that kind of issues, even on PCs. EA develops/publishes some amazing games, but their rather obvious disregard for any kind of decency is certainly bewildering.

I probably wont buy an EA developed game as long as they use Cider or some other kind of crappy "wrapper". Even a nicely ported game will do, not even mentioning something called "optimization" or "rebuilding the code/engine". Aspyr makes a wonderful effort, still somewhat lacking, but we could say they're one of the better "porting" houses.

The World needs more Blizzards, am afraid, if only they could release games in a more timely manner. Also, Jobs should make a hefty donation to the guys at Valve...

Blizzard.
Blizzard? Don't think so if you are implying that they screw the Mac Community. WOW is one of the few games I have found that I really have no serious issues with. And is well supported in my opinion. EA on the other hand even with the PC community their forums are hardly responded to by EA itself. This is one of EA's main problems. Not looking at user reaction and problems and if they are never actually responding or updating on a regular basis. I was fed up with Madden on the PC after Madden04 and never had an interest in going back until this version and thought it would be good to play. It works well on Tiger (10.4) but Leopard (10.5) not usable. I believe Apple and EA mostly to blame for this along with other bugs in 10.5 (Apple Only). Somebody also mentioned Transgaming and I really never thought of that one and yes the translation could be a problem since Madden worked on Tiger and not Leopard. But you would think that developers would work if able with the Apple to be in step with the OS or at least actively working with each other to get a product out that works...Long winded I guess but there is a few folks to blame I think on this one.....

Bill......:apple:

Why would they care about Media Access Control?

Oh right...

Yeah I know EA only too well. What will happen is they'll show an interest in the Mac and get everyone's hopes up, then realise it's not making them BILLIONS like Tiger/FIFA/etc and cancel any products they had for it.

Seen their behaviour before with Air Warrior, Earth and Beyond, Ultima Online 2, etc etc....

Just bootcamp and use XP ;) it's not perfect but it certainly gives you a short-term solution. I did read somewhere that XP actually gives you more FPS because of better-written drivers so this can only be a good thing for us.

FPS is more likely better on Windows because games are written and optimised for that platform first, and then ported to OS X as an afterthought. I've found the Windows drivers to be a bit naff personally (in typical ATI fashion, you can't install their own driver updates without hacking them on)
