I have been considering buying some AirPods but I am worried about fit. The wired Apple earbuds (lightning version) do not fit well in my ears (they feel very loose). Before I spend the money I am hoping to hear some feedback. Thank you

Try AirPods Gen 3 as they fit differently, or consider something like AirPods Pro or Beats Fit Pro (my favorite).

I just returned (today) my AirPods gen 3 and purchased the Beats Fit Pro. A WORLD of difference in fit. I have really small ear canals so both the gen 1, 2, and 3 just don’t work. At first I thought the gen 3 would work out because of the redesign but I just couldn’t get comfortable wearing them. The sound is amazing, but they just didn’t feel secure.

I have large ear canals. The large size tips fit me fine. One doesn't pass the test in the settings on my phone, but I don't think that means anything.

Exact opposite for me, Airpods pro fit fine and beats fit pro really hurt my ears. Funny how different ears can be.

Granted, I’ve only just picked up the BFP this morning, but so far so good. I’m really hopeful that these work for me. I have a lot of Teams/Webex meetings, and it is so irritating having to adjust the APPs constantly.

The APPs has a good fit as well, but after a while, I have to push them back in.

It‘s the AirPods gen 1 through 3 that I just cannot work with.

You will have to try them as our ears are very anatomically different, so something fitting one person may not fit another at all. Personally, out of Apple offerings I have tried their EarPods, AP2, APP and AP3. The only ones I had a real problem with were APP, as they created an uncomfortable pressure in my ear canal. Hard to describe, but unpleasant enough. AP2 and AP3 both fit me very well and I am enjoying the sound improvements they made with the new AP3. ?

I found all the wired AirPods were loose enough in my ears that the wire would constantly pull them either loose or out completely. With the AirPods Pro (I have been using the large tip) I never feel that they are getting loose or going to fall out. I have never gotten the Fit Test to come back positive, but I think that is only important with regards to getting proper Noise Cancellation (which I have never felt was great anyway). But fit and the sound of the music is much better than the original AirPods (I never tried the 2 or 3 versions as I was basically happy with the Pros).

Well, the beats fit pro caused severe pain in my right ear after about an hour of wear and will be returned because of it

Airpods pro don't fit either, they are less uncomfortable but I absolutely cannot get the right ear to seal. Left ear gets uncomfortable after an hour but it's not as bad as the Beats.

I guess we're moving on to the Sony. Goodbye H1 with ANC dreams.

If you live near an apple store, I’d pay a visit and see if you can try on a piece. They do have demo units that you can try and test it out. Yes they sanitize them after each use. I have both the Airpods Pro (the updated one that came with the magsafe case) and Airpods 3 and both fits my ear just fine.

I had a lot of fit issues with the APP, tried multiple brands and multiple sizes of tips and never found a comfortable and reliable fit. Bought the beats fit and they work very well. Personally I would start with those.

Have you tried the Beats Studio Buds? I’ve had a hard time finding *any* earbuds that stay in my ears, but right before the BFP came out, I bought the Studio Buds on sale, and they stay in really well and are very comfortable. (The ANC isn’t quite as good as the BFP, and they don’t have the H1 chip.)

I also got the BFP for when I really want the ANC, and I was going to return the Studio Buds, but I ended up keeping them too because I like them so much.

I have not yet. I ordered some of the Comply foam tips, so will try those before I give up on the APPs for good.

I think Sony is next because of the sound quality and battery life. I *hate* touch controls on the outside of the ear, and Sony really burned me on the over-ear XM3s which had an issue where the touch controls would go berserk if it was below about 40F out (a common issue with those), but... yeah. I think they're next in line.
