No matter what tip I use, I get a yellow warning telling me to change the tip. They sound fine so not sure why it's constantly failing or if I have weird shaped ears.

Interesting, I also have failures in the right ear, and I have tried the small and medium tips. The medium I can get to work with adjusting it. It kind of doesn't surprise me since I have asymmetrical ears. With the old airpods, If I put them in without looking in the mirror and just going by feel, one airpod would be at a different angle than the other. I also wear earplugs for sleeping, and my right one alway needs to be adjusted more to get to fit.

Guess we just have weird ears!

Exact same issue. I've tried all 3 tips in my right ear and I get the same warning. The odd thing is, they still stay in my ears even under vigorous activity.

See with this type of Airpod, I think there would be a great market for aftermarket customizable eartips. Send a kit to the customer with some silicone molding putty, take a mold of the inner ear, 3d print a mold for the tip, then mold the tip. (Can you tell I am a plastics engineer?)

I agree! I was thinking the same thing. I'm sure there will be plenty of 3rd party options available soon. I'm just happy to finally have AirPods that stay in my ears. :)

Well I can’t get either ear to pass the test. I have tried all three sets and moved them to different positions and the only way I can get a pass is to be pressing the Pros into my ears while the test is running. But even if I get a pass, as soon as I let go of them and run the test again they fail.

Yep it seems like I have the same issue discribed here. I fail the test ever single time no mater the configuration or method of putting the AirPods pro in my ears. This is super disappointing because I really hoped these would fit better than the original AirPods.

Thankfully it’s not a deal breaker for me. They still fit way better than my previous AirPods.

Sounds like you need to start a business. ;)

I had the AirPods 2 and the difference in fit between the two is the proverbial night and day experience. So glad Apple released these. I just wish it didn't cost so much. That is a lot of date money gone. lol

I too, would love to see this but the inability to use the charging case would be the biggest hurdle to overcome.

I do the ear tip test every time I put in the new pods. I have found that if I briefly take out one of the pods or use the fast forward feature a few times, I don't get the good seal anymore (according to the test) and I have to readjust the pod fit again.

The right ear tip (stock tip) doesn't feel quite as far in as the left tip (with the good seal message results). I am surprised Apple didn't use a foam expanding type tip.

How are people fitting them? My right side was failing too but still sound fine and I did t want to move up to the large tip as they felt a bit too much pressure after a while.

Eg do you put them in pointing down, or insert pointing down then rotate to a different angle? I can’t see any fitting instructions anywhere

I do a slight point down and very light twist at the same time.

I am experiencing the same issue. In my case it is the left ear. I have tried all three tips and on rare occasion can get a good seal on the left ear, but again, rarely. The right ear consistently works. I contacted Apple support via chat and they are sending replacement tips. I am afraid that short of a more malleable tip the left ear will not seal properly. That said I have enjoyed these AP pros. The sound is rich and the ANC is effect even in the presence of leaf blowers. Granted I can still hear the leaf blowers but I am able to hear and understand whatever programming I am listening to without it being at full volume.

Everyone who couldn’t get a seal and has a weak sound with no bass etc. try to put them in like this.
it really works and was the only way for me currently to get a seal. Also the noise reduction works much better this way. It sounds and looks strange but it worked for me.

Tried it and although the seal seems slightly better, the AirPods still fail the ear test in my right ear.

Based on my experience, I believe that if an Airpod Pro never passes the ear tip test, it's a sign that there's a problem with the internal mics/sensor. In my case, both left and right Airpods eventually failed the ear tip test and would never pass with any sized ear tip. Later the left Airpod developed the notorious rattle noise when in ANC and Transparency mode. The new replacement I received from Apple now always passes the ear tip test while my right one continues to fail. I fully expect the right one to fail at some point in the future...

It's a design flaw with AirPods Pro.

Ear wax gets into the port and clogs it up, leading to the test failing.

Get some Bluetack and stick it in the whole and remove it - repeat this at least 10 times. I guarantee this will (temporarily) fix the issue.

Same issue with mine. Left ear bud seals fine but the right one does not. I've tried every size ear tip available and even bought some third-party foam ones. I really wanted the AirPod Pros to work out for me. Unfortunately, it looks like I'll have to send mine back for a refund. Edit: 10-06-2020 - I found that the AirPod Pros fit if I point the stems up instead of down. Weird, I know, but it works for me. :p

Blue tac didn’t work for me. My AirPods Pro didn’t pass the fit test from day one and the left pod now rattles but, they work great.

I just rec'd replacement L/R Air Pod Pros and also got the new v2.0 Comply Foam Ear Tips....They feel great and always pass the tip test.

For a few months of course, when the Air Pods will need to be replaced again.

The fit test is a useless gimmick and should be ignored. Mine usually fails but they still work and sound great. I don’t need my phone to tell me if they fit. It’s stupid.
