Early 2008 iMac vs new Mac Mini, suggestions

I'm a long-time Mac user looking for some advice. I've got an early 24-inch iMac in perfect condition. It's got a 2.8 GHZ Intel Core 2 Duo, 500GB HDD, 2 GB RAM.

I'm trying to decide if I want to sell the iMac and get a new 2.66GHZ Mac Mini and put an Intel X-25 SSD in it. I've wanted to start using SSD's for a while now but the ideal of opening up my iMac to put an SSD in terrifies me. I'd also like something a bit more portable, with the ability to use an HDTV as a screen.

I'd appreciate any suggestions/advice.

mainly browsing/photo editing and some video editing, but I should add I'm a pretty heavy user. i run a sports media company,so this isn't a check my email a few times a day/browse for an hour situation.

I really want to try the SSD, HHD's seem to be a bit slow for me right now, increased load time(especially when trying to break a story) is very important. Can't tell you how many times I've been on the edge of breaking a story only to get pinwheeled

Do you have an independent Mac service provider near you? My local shop quoted me $50 to install an SSD in an out-of-warranty iMac (assuming I provided the drive and 3.5" mounting bracket). Also keep in mind that it's not exactly easy to replace the hard drive on the new Mini as well.

yea, I should look into that. I'd feel more comfortable breaking something down like the mini. Removing the screen etc... on the iMac is what prevents me from wanting to do it myself.
