Early 2008 Mac Pro FCPX Crashing

[thirdwise]

I have recently started to learn FCPX and it crashes often. What happens is screen goes blue and I get bounced out of everything, back into log in screen where I put in my password. And FCPX is closed when I get back in. I have an early 2008 Mac Pro, an upgraded Graphics card to ATI Radeon HD 5770 (Just for FCPX). I have 10GB Ram, and I'm working in an event saved to my Glyph Hard Drive, 7200rpm, FireWire 800. I need some help please!!!!! I need to work on these projects to finish school.

Can you please verify that the card is a 5770?

Did you do any driver monkeying about before hand?

Is there a 2600XT in?

I see Radeon3000 stuff in those reports and I don't think 5770 should be loading those.

I don't have a 10.6.8 install handy or even a 5770 but I threw a 5870 in and it only loads 5000 level stuff in 10.7.5

You should try an OpenCl test to verify that it is working.

OpenCl is used by FCPX and is present on 5770 but not 3870 or 2600 that seem to be loading kexts.

Thank you very much for your help! I really appreciate you taking the time to try to help me! Sorry in advance but I'm not experienced in this trouble shooting stuff.

What is an OpenCl? How do I do it? What do you mean "driver monkeying around"? Ever since I performed the upgrade to the 5770, I have seen a weird thing, like once every 30 times I start my Mac instead of bringing me to start-up screen it only shows black screen. I then have to touch power button to enter sleep mode, and then I press a key and it wakes up to start screen. Its not that big of a deal and I can live with it. I am using an hp monitor instead of the apple one, and I always thought the graphics card just wasn't 100% working well with the monitor or something.
