Early 2008 MacPro monitor?

Tried searching and just not clear on my options. I'd like to upgrade my tired old Dell monitor to a new U2711. Can my geforce 8800gt run a single monitor via the DVI output at full resolution? I considered a ACD but need the extra DVI input for a spare laptop and really have no need to update the video card.

Yes. All Mac Pros can drive any DVI monitor at full resolution.

Do be aware that the 8800 series is defective, so at some point you will likely have to replace it.

At least my flashed one is a 4-year old 8800 GTS 512 (dual slot) and it's never had a problem. And I torture the piss out of it on a daily basis.
