No. It's like getting angry that the October issue of Macworld is coming out when you just bought the September issue.

Is your computer getting any slower now that there's a new one coming out? No.

Well, maybe it spontaneously has a self destruct switch that detonates when the new ones come out? Well, I doubt it, but maybe.

Or, perhaps it's the fact that technology didn't stop progressing after the iMac that you bought came out? We might be getting closer!

There's also the chance that you just want to have to latest and greatest, which I believe is the culprit in this case!

Don't worry, the sting of having a new computer come out that is the successor to yours is significantly mitigated after it is outdated two times. I should know, my non-unibody MacBook Pro is now two revs behind! But it is still just as fast as when I got it, and it's prettier than the new ones :D

Not the same at all...you expect a monthly magazine to come out with a new issue every month.

And you don't expect a new computer to come out every six months or so

Jeezus Christ man, it will have been 7 months since the last update. The entire mac community should be rejoicing as one.

Oh, wait, these are the macrumors forums. Oops. :D

Does anyone know what I did with my bitch slap smiley?

I think it was in the same folder as the common sense, but it seems they might have ran away together.

This is ridiculous. We all know how quickly computers are refreshed. Anyone that's "mad" needs to get over it. It's the way it goes. And if you like the next model that much more, don't whine about it....pony up and buy it...

Depends on what's coming. My iMac came about 6 months ago and I've enjoyed that time using iMac and it does what I want it to done. If update is going to be significant then I may sell this (I can get good price here in Finland :p) and get new one

Why would anyone be mad. I'd understand it if new iMacs came out within say three months of each other, and the new one was drastically better than the old ones. If it's been out for more than six months though I really can't see why anyone would be mad. Having the newest and the best is nice, but that is only going to last for a limited amount of time.

Lots of good solid answers here. Couldn't agree more.

I'd also like to point out that the cycle is no mystery. Generally-speaking, a major refresh takes place every 12-18 months. And then you usually get 2 minor refreshes in-between. So no matter when you buy, you're not that far away from some kind of improvement.

You don't expect the iMac to be updated every year? Like it always has? Would you rather they just stick with this one for 4 years while other PCs at the same price will be running 3Ghz 16 core processors with 16GB of RAM and 4GB GPUs?

I think anybody annoyed over a refresh needs to grow up, do you see Dell/Toshiba/hp owners complain when their model is updated? :p

A lot of people thought the iMac would get updated with better stuff at the end of the year, so if you wanted it you should have waited. No one to blame but yourself, unless you had to buy it for some reason.

Someone mentioned possibly selling their current iMac if they decde to "upgrade" to the new model. One possible downfall is the rumor that there will be a price drop. This could mean a new/better model may be $100-200 less than the current model. That cuts the amount of money you can get for the current model substantially.

I'm glad I waited to purchase, but at the same time I understand that if you keep waiting because of an upcoming model you'll never make a purchase. People need to be happy with their purchase and understand there will ALWAYS be something faster/bigger/better right around the corner.

Yeah I should've waited a week, considering I ordered an imac about a week ago and have had it for only a few days. Debating sending it back, just not sure how much faith I have in the rumors. :)

I am kind of in the same boat. I bought mine a month and a half ago, and I am thinking about selling it....but it's a big risk if there are not goning be any new iMacs soon.

I've had my iMac for just under 2 weeks. It does everything I need it to, and I'm fairly sure this won't change if/when the new machines are released.

My only regret is not buying sooner, as I waited around 2 months in case an update came in august/september time. That didn't happen, so I decided to buy.

This is exactly how I feel!
