I have an early 2009 iMac 24" 2.93 Core 2 Duo, 1TB HDD, GeForce 120 and 4GB RAM. What I am wondering is if the new models are significantly faster then the model I have.

I am having trouble finding any comparisons to the older iMacs of early 2009to determine just how much of a performance bump these may offer. Mainly I use the computer for iPhoto, iMovie (not too heavy), iTunes, email and Internet.

If I did get one would the i3 offer much of a benefit? I am thinking if I upgraded at all it would be to the i5, but maybe spending any $$$ right now is not the best place to spend more cash if the bump is modest. The larger 27" screen may be nice, but 24" is not small either.

Thoughts?

Hey There, your usage of your iMac is pretty much identical to mine and I too was pondering over the newer model. Thing is the stress you put on your mac is probably very minimal and in MY opinion 27" is a little excessive, yours is 4 inches bigger than my iMac and it still looks great playing all my films. Up to you but for general usage, iPhoto/iMovie stuff like that I'd hang on to it! :)
