I have followed all the rules so I thought and having trouble getting my dual core to boot. The power light is constant (not flashing) fan on GPU runs but not on computer. I did not delid cpus but added a 3 mill thermal pad. Replaced the existing 1 mill pad. Took out black pin on both heat sinks via a YouTube post. I have tried 10-12 times to re tighten screws carefully, taken heat sinks on and off again with no luck.
I need advice on what Mac I can purchase to take advantage of my new ram and maybe my two new cpu’s I purchased and move on. I have two 30” Apple monitors I use for video and photography production and need to get back up and running. I use two Drobos for storage.
help is much appreciated

early 2009 quad core 12 gig ram

If you have not delid your CPUs you can go for a real 5.1 with smc Version ending in f11

Also you can use the parts for troubleshooting. Fans will go panic mode full throttle when mixing 4.1/5.1 boards. But anyway you can check whats gone south.

Guess you damaged the cpu sockets. Take cpus out and inspect them with a very good optical tool. I use an usb microscope - but often damage is clearly visible.

Thank you. I am buying the appropriate glass to look at cpu closely. Can you recommend someone I can ship this computer to fix it?
