Early 2015 MacBook Air freezes with inactivity...

if I leave my computer inactivate for about 5-10 minutes the computer completely freezes. I have to force a reboot but I am not recieving any log files to figure out what's happening. Is anyone else experiencing this or figured out how to prevent this?

Someone on the Apple Beta site thought it had something to do with being connected to power... but what a pain!

You can adjust here, see image below, by default it's set for that time period and submit feedback to Apple.

This happens to me. I think its time machine, trying now disconnecting the external disk im using for this.

Not sure witch year is mine. I will check when I got home. This started happening today when I plug my external disk where time machine are stored.

After I removed the disk, MacBook not freeze anymore. I will try plugging the disk again to see if it freeze when I come back to home.

2015 13" MBP here and I have the same issue going on. Only when I am connected to power and leave the laptop for a little bit and it goes to sleep does it then freeze up and I can't do anything except hard reset the laptop. I tried adjusting the settings for sleep and display sleep but it didn't change anything. Has anyone found a fix? I submitted the bug to Apple.

Update to latest beta didn’t resolve it for me on MacBook Air 2017. Fresh install resolved the issue for me.

Yes, concur. Early 2015 2.2 GHz i7. Locks up tight w/ USB 3 external HD for Time Machine. The backup starts and a process starts running out of control and freezes right up w/ fans screaming. Tried reinstalling via Recovery but same result. Disconnected drive & turned off Time Machine which allows for extended use but after closing the lid machine will apparently shut down. If I open the lid after a random period I have to push the power button to cold start. All w/ power adapter connected. Real showstopper here.

Additional info: Unplugged the power adapter & disconnected external USB drive. Went to sleep & woke back up an hour later no problem. Everything was happy. Left it overnight and woke back up again happy. So, attached external drive to the router and did the SMB dance to mount it. Now, Time Machine somehow can't see the share as a valid drive (head scratcher since Time Machine does support SMB) but also plugged power back in. Turned my head and bam! Froze up again. Really think the showstopper is in the power management.

Still experiencing same issue - I’m assuming none of my fellow 2015 MacBook owners have managed to find a solution...hopefully this will be resolved with the next beta (this week?)

I too have an Early 2015 MacBook Air and have been experiencing the same issue. I use mine closed, connected to power and an external monitor. It happens after about 5 mins of inactivity. Very frustrating. Especially as I also use a Windows PC alongside it connected to another monitor. So attention is typically diverted for that amount of time.
