With the approval of the iPhone by the FCC it seems like there is nothing stopping the iPhone from being launched. In my opinion the only reason Apple should wait untill late June is to meet the demand. But is it possible that they might just launch it say June 11th?

Other than the actual production, you mean? It usually takes about a month after the FCC approval for production to reach numbers high enough to ship a product. I don't think they'll want to launch the product more than two weeks before it actually ships. My guess is it will be officially launched at WWDC and we'll see the first ones ship and show up in stores around June 21st.

I'm pretty damn sure, that's how it'll be. Makes perfect sense. Launch it at WWDC, maybe introduce a new feature we didn't know about, then get 2 weeks of press frenzy, and sell a sh*tload at the end of June. One of which will be mine. :)

remember the leopard delay press release? the first sentence was:

iPhone has already passed several of its required certification tests and is on schedule to ship in late June as planned.

it looks like late june. i'm guessing last week. 26th perhaps?

I agree on the theory that apple will announce it at WWDC and then let the press build ahuge frenzy on it and then release it. It just makes a perfect strategy.

Apple got FCC approval back in March. Trust me, that was not the reason it's taking time, now they have to get all the phone features working, fix bugs in the OS and train the support staff. It will still come out when expected. I would love to see other June releases though. I want an updated Mac Mini before I start my entertainment center.:D

Come on June!

The anticipation is killing me! I honestly can't remember getting this excited about any product.

I am relatively new to Apple (bought my first iMac/Apple product in '05) but I really think this will be to cell phones, what the iMac is to computing:

Reliable, easy to use, fun to use.

That's why I made the switch to Mac.

It has always been my belief that Apple would indeed release the iPhone at WWDC - let's hope this is the case!

I don't believe this to be the case. We have already had confirmation of the launch date being late June. This was confirmed by AT&T canceling all leave over a certain period.

If it's mentioned at all at WWDC it will be a brief 'hey guys we got FCC approval its all go, you can buy on X day'

WWDC will be ALL about Leopard....this is Apples day to blow MS out the water.

I really hope we don't end up with Wii or PS3 (or even Star Wars tickets) style lines outside apple and / or Cingular stores. I'm too old for that stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'd be there, but I wouldn't be all that happy about it.

At least this one is in June. I live in Minnesota and seeing people wait for a day or two in December outside for a PS3 was almost horrifying.

The FCC approved the electronic workings of the iPhone not the software.Apple software engineers were taken from the Leopard project to make the iPhone software work properly not the electronics.

June 30th
