Earphones While Charging

I just wanted to ask if it's actually bad to have your earphones plugged in while charging your phone because this has always been a habit of mine and my friends told me that it's apparently bad for your phone. Can someone verify this?

25% of my listening time, my phone is being charged. No problem, it's not bad for your phone (and I can't come up with a single way of how it could be bad for your phone).

Did they say how/why that might be bad? (Not that it is, just curious what the reasoning might even be, assuming there's any actual reasoning at all.)

Omg thank you my dad told me when I was younger someone got electrocuted and died doing that, I was so scared I haven’t done it since. It feels wrong now.
