First some facts. I use OUTLOOK 2010 (on a win7 laptop) for all my mail, calendars and contacts. Primary email is earthlink, but have a gmail account, and had a mobileme account. Prior to the upgrade to iOS 5 and iCloud, I used mobileme on both my iPhone and iPad to keep everything synced and it worked well.

Once I upgraded and migrated from MobileMe to iCloud (and iOS 5) all my email accounts showed up on my devices but would not go and fetch new email. Both devices would end up in a loop trying to get email with no success and would only stop if I went to the multitask bar and delete the Mail app. Even settings would crash when I tried to make any changes. I tried going from push/fetch to manual and no change.

I didn't have email sync checked for the iCloud, only calendars, contacts, bookmarks etc.

Finally I deleted the iCloud account on each device, did a reboot and the email world is happy again and works normally.

Except now I cannot sync my calendars and contacts in OUTLOOK except by doing an iTunes Sync.

I tried deleting all my email accounts on both devices and re-entering them one by one and as soon as I enabled the cloud, it all stopped working again.

Anyone else having this issue?, any suggestions? Am I missing something?
