Hi guys, I have been out of the game for a while and I am wondering if there is a tool or the easiest way to wipe my old 2011 MPB clean and install High Sierra? I have been running Catalina unsupported for a while and it's just not running well and a few of my apps, such as MS Office, will not run anymore. I just want to go back to the last supported OS for my machine. I've googled is and found some USB drive options and the Command +R boot option. I'll go these routes if that's all there is these days, but thought I would ping the group first to see if there is a tool or a third party tool to make this a bit easier?

Thanks in advance.

Joe

According to everymac.com, High Sierra is the last "supported OS" that runs on the 2011 MBP.

So... I would suggest:
1. Back up any data that you wish to keep to an external drive
2. Boot to INTERNET recovery:
Command-OPTION-R
at boot
(you'll need your wifi password to get to internet recovery)
3. Open disk utility. BE SURE to choose "show all devices" from the view menu so that you can see the internal drive.
4. ERASE the internal drive to APFS, GUID partition format.
5. Quit disk utility and open the OS installer, which should offer you High Sierra (as the last supported OS version). Install it.
6. Restore from your backup.

Perfect, thank you.
