I'm not sure what my wife has done but my desktop definitely isnt running like she used to. How can I do a total restore without recovery disks?? I searched the box but cannot find the disks anywhere... Tia folks

The number to call is 1-800-767-2775 (Customer Relations). I believe the usual charge for replacement discs is $60.
You can buy them from apple. I think you may just have to talk to support and tell them your model number. Shouldn't cost you much.
System specific? I thought every compatible OS X disc would do the job.
Buying a OS X Snow Leopard disc in the store wouldn't help either? I thought there was an option to do a clean install, for which the original system disc isn't needed? Would be easier and cheaper...
As in the CD that came with an iMac won't install SL properly on a MBP.
Idk about buying a SL disk from the store.
Isn't a reinstall a bit extreme?
Have you done any fault finding to see what's making your experience different now from when you first used it?

Things to check:
Whats's starting up on boot
Repair permissions
Reset Safari
If you could help us with some more details then we might be able to give advice that doesn't involve reinstalling OSX.
