Easiest way to send text from phone to computer?

On your phone you have some text such as a web link or something you copied from an email or website. What's the quickest way to send it to your PC without email or sms?

I have my own hacked (or maybe "convoluted") method but was curious about other methods or apps.

In my opinion sending an email or sms would be the easiest. But if for some reason one could not do that, using iFile would be easy. Create a new .txt file in a folder and copy that .txt file from the iphone using DiskAid or a similar program.

Well sure I can tell you. They are stored in a .db file. /var/mobile/Library/SMS/sms.db But the OP didn't want to do anything with SMS, so he probably is not going to SMS himself the text he is looking for only to pull the text out of a .db file.

I'm surprised there's no app for this. I guess I'll keep using my method. I currently have a shell script that takes whatever is in the phone's clipboard and emails it to myself using mailx. A script on the computer then extracts the text and puts it in a desktop file. I couldn't decide whether to stick with email or go a different route. The downside is that I have to use one small app which I don't really want to get access to the pasteboard and I get new mail alerts which I have to clear.

I guess I'll switch to a special email address and rewrite it. Now that I think about it, I think there are some cool improvements I could make.

Still, I'm surprised no one has made a simple cross platform app that does this.

You know you can just SMS it with the email address you use on your computer. Works the same way with sending a MSG from your computer. The address to email a text to your phone SMS should be the number@AT&T.com or something like that.

Yeah but I want to be able to send a lot of text, like copy a page, and my current method should be easier now that I've tweaked it. The problem is that the iphone's launchd doesn't like mailx so the actual sending is buggy.

That's for backing up and accessing text messages, I just want general text.

Update: I never could get mailx working the way I wanted. I ended up putting the computer's ssh keys on the phone and setting up a script using scp to automatically login to my computer and transfer a file with the clipboard contents, then set it up to run from a SpringBoard icon.

Then I wrote a script on the computer that, when clicked, copies the contents of the file to the clipboard and, if it's a link, puts it in a predefined firefox bookmark. It all takes 2-3 seconds.
