Simple Question: Will the new 2018 iPad Pro with the Type C connector allow users to easily transfer files from the iPad to an external storage and vice versa? Will users be able to easily download files and save on the iPad?

No, the USB-C allows faster charging and video output.
We can only dream that a future iOS version will allow proper file management.

Knowing Apple I knew iPad probably will not allow proper file management. However, in their new commercial for new iPad, they kept mentioning new USB-C and the fact that it will allow connection of a multitude of devices. That plus the fact the new iPad comes with 1TB of storage made me think proper file management will now be possible. Why the heck would I buy a 1TB storage device if I can't save and download files? I might as well purchase the 64GB option, which is a whole lot less money.

Dear Apple: It does not make a lot of sense to have 1TB onboard storage and can't manage it.
That's why Apple has extra storage options. It's for those who need the extra capacity But they don't want people to use external storage, or else they won't be able to sell their internal storage. Ever wonder why iPhone don't have microsd card slots even though Apple is perfectly capable of building them into their phones?
iOS is never about getting files out via cable.
Don’t forget about iCloud subscriptions - cheap external storage would cut back on the need for people to subscribe and pay forever for iCloud storage.
How do you transfer files from a pc? I have my iPad connected to a laptop. I can even see Internal Storage from the laptop. But there is the DCIM folder only. Or is there another / better way to get files to the iPad. I would like to have them in folders several deep if possible. If not, then this 1TB is useless.... ugh
That's how I feel. The 1TB does me no good if I can't use it the way I want. I am indeed an Apple junkie (look at my signature) so this criticism is not coming from a jealous Android user. The iPad needs to allow me more freedom if it's going to replace my laptop. But I guess that's Apple's strategy: Make me buy both an iPad and a MacBook Pro. If the iPad had more freedom I guess I wouldn't buy the MacBook Pro.
Without proper file management, I cannot go with the larger storage models of any ipad due to that reason alone. I'm not holding my ipad up at the zoo recording in 4K to use the storage either nor downloading mobile games (the other reason to get large storage models) since placing files on it is a mess unless they are already in the cloud.
Man, it would have been really nice to have real file support on these new iPads. It was a bit sad in The Verge's review when the guy simply wasn't able to do anything with a flash drive.
