Easy subscript button in word?

hi everyone-

i'm taking a chem class in school and love taking my powerbook (1.5 ghz 12") to class to take notes with, but can't seem to find an easy way to make a superscript or subscript without searching the help dialogue for some complicated answer...isn't there a way to just (apple key+ something) to get a subscript??? anyone have any experience with this?

oh btw i'm using MS Word/Office 2004

you can do a couple of things...one, you can edit your toolbars and add that button on the toolbar. second, you can use the formatting palette and under "fonts," there is a subscript button. you might also be able to assign a keystroke to it, but i'm not sure.

thanks for that! i just put one in the tool bar and that worked well enough...if i could figure out a command key that'd be even better, but i can live with this for now

FWIW Ctrl-= and Ctrl-+ work on Windows.

Yes, the corresponding keyboard shortcuts work on Macs...

Subscript: Command =
Superscript: Command +

The shortcuts work as toggles, so just press the combo again to return to normal text.
