Hi:
After discussing it here, and using the MacWorld article on making a Fusion drive, I picked up a Samsung 250 gig HD & put it into my early '08 MacPro, and formed and a Samsung 1 terabyte HD into a fusion drive.
My boot disk is and has always been the 1 terabyte HD that came with the MacPro (I think it's a Seagate, but don't recall for certain).
In a nutshell, I want the new Fusion drive to be the boot drive, and for everything on the original boot drive to be moved to the Fusion drive.
Then I can reformat or just 'Trash the contents' on the old boot drive, and use it for spare storage.
Tried Migration Assistant; it tells me I can have 2 user accounts with the same name on the computer, so I stopped that. Read about Carbon Copy Cloner online; that's $40. I assume just using the mouse to copy & paste everything, then telling the Mac the Fusion drive's the boot disk, won't work?
What's the easiest way to get this done?
Richard.
P.S.: We've moved twice since this computer was bought, I believe, and I don't know where the OS installation CD or DVD is. Also, when I pull up the App Store, it shows Mountain Lion for $20 or so. I paid for the upgrade via the App Store when Mountain Lion came out, so I don't know whether the App Store will let me install to the Fusion Drive, or whether it'll charge me $20, and whether it would do me any good to do that.
P.S. #2: Thanks in advance, everybody!!!
