Man I remember having those, (with the packet of icing included). Good times, great for kids to get involved with cooking.

I loves me some carrot cake!

In the heat and amid pouring rain, the trusty(?) Chevota sits outside, expired inspection sticker and all, willing to drive or swim 30 miles round trip for a box of this stuff. Now. Too bad the A/C doesn't work. No sale! Far too hot to bake anyway. Now wondering if a carrot smoothie... nah.

I am Disappoint. Please greet real white Death. Not whinging pearl-clutching cake.

That stuff is great w/ hoppin' john in winter. Gonna die, that's a comfy way to go. But the fatback in the picture there, that's probably enough to kill three, four people. :D

I find that food doesn't taste as good without the trans fats.

I think I'd need a side by side comparison.

Carrot cake is the best cake. Anyone who claims otherwise gets beat.

Home made is better without whatever preservatives they use to extend shelf life. A great option with home made is to use apple sauce to replace oil in the carrot cake recipe. :)

Lol. I assume you all know that white death is a white sugar reference, but lard and white flour certainly should be included. :)

Setting aside the fact that it's getting hard to make that comparison any more... I have decided that certain crackers I used to keep stashed in the pantry are not worth buying. There's just something sort of pre-dried-out that comes with the no trans fat way of making crackers. Somehow Town House managed to do a little better than Ritz. For me. Maybe.

Anyway the nanny state got a twofer off of that one in my house. Not only am I skipping trans fat, I don't even eat carbs from crackers any more.

If it weren't for prepackaged stuff, I'd be dead now. Any time I attempt homemade food, I end up hurting myself.

Well, maybe I'm not being entirely fair with myself here. It took me a little bit, but I've become decent at smoking, and I've been doing alright with one of those food services I recently subscribed to, which sends you a bunch of raw ingredients along with a few recipe, but otherwise expects you to slap it all together yourself.

The Chipotle steak I made last week ended up being so, so rad.

Frosting not included! WTH?! Cream cheese frosting makes the cake. You could probably put good cream cheese frosting on last night's hamburger and it would taste divine!

Carrot cake is one of the few cakes I can eat without frosting, and still like. Though yeah, the frosting does make it a lot better.

Not so sure about the hamburger thing, though.

It's not just crackers and cookies. I used to love Paneria Bread till they changed to a healthy menu and took the taste out of the food.
